Dear RNZAF Golfing Society Members (Past and Present),
Planning is now well underway for the 68th RNZAF Golfing Society Tournament taking place at Rangitikei Golf Club Sunday 4th November – Thursday 8rd November 2018. The annual tournament is an excellent opportunity to get away from it all for a couple of days, stun us all with your golfing prowess (or at least get your clubs out in the fresh air after a year in hibernation!) and enjoy the great social atmosphere that has been going now for 68 glorious years!!
Due to the success of the revised 36 hole competition format last year this format will remain; stroke play will be played over two days (Mon 5th and Tue 6th ) followed by two days of match play. The 18 hole tournament will have one day of stroke pay (Mon 5th) followed by 3 days of match play.
Sunday 4th Dec will be a practice day for all.
Please note that there is one entry form for NZDF personnel and a different entry form for non-NZDF personnel which details meal requirements, so please ensure the right entry form is used and returned to F/S Isaac Hastings (or RNZAFGolf@nzdf.mil.nz). For those who need to join or renew their Society membership either do so through a Base Golf Club or use the Society membership application form that is also attached and return it to me. As detailed on the forms, please note that payments for the tournament and Society membership are paid into different accounts so please send separate payments.
As ever, entries for the tournament are limited so it is important to get your entries in early to avoid disappointment. Whilst it is understandable that work commitments sometimes cannot be confirmed more than a couple of weeks in advance, a cut-off date for entries has been set at Friday 26th October. Any entries received after this date will be placed on a reserve list and, dependant on numbers, may only be offered a place in the tournament if space allows.
By kind permission of the Base Commander, accommodation at RNZAF Base Ohakea is being made available again this year free of charge to those who request it.
Clearly, as a milestone 68th year for Society the success of the tournament is heavily dependent on the number of players. On behalf of the organising committee I ask for your continued support in spreading the word and encouraging as many people as possible, new and existing members, to attend and make this a year to remember.
Thanks for your ongoing support and I look forward to seeing you all in November!
